These shutters are made from quality Canadian Western Red Cedar. Cedar shutters provide superior insulation qualities as well as excellent light control, privacy and security.

Cedar shutters can be manufactured in a hinged, bi-fold, sliding or a fixed style. The shutters have a UV protected finish in either oil, lacquer and/or painted surface. The shutter operation can be either clearview control for better vision, or be traditionally center operated.

Some important Cedar wood characteristics

Canadian Western Red Cedar is a natural product and the variations of colour and grain will occur.

The timber slats are hand picked to provide the best match possible. Colour variations will however still occur.

Slight warping of slats due to extreme heat, cold and humidity may also occur.

Cedar shutters are made from a natural product and so it is important to remember that these variations in colour and grain may occur.

Oiled timber shutters will require re-oiling from time to time in order to maintain their best natural appearance.

It is important to be aware of Western red cedar colour variation. Manufacturers go a long way to try to match slats within blinds, and blinds within an order. However, colour will still vary from slat to slat and blind to blind. Every effort is made to select slat of consistent shading for each order, but the natural characteristics of Cedar wood dominate causing colour variation.

Polyresin shutters offer the traditional look of the cedar style shutter but without the inherent problems of wood such as warping, shrinking, clipping, peeling and colour fading.

Polyresin shutters are suitable for a range of applications including internal and external window furnishings and room dividers. Polyresin is a great alternative to timber shutters - that are sourced from our natural resources. Polyresin shutters have flame retardant properties that resist ignition and flame spread. It also has excellent anti-microbial and waterproof properties, making it the perfect type of product suitable for water-prone environments such as kitchen sinks, bathrooms and other high humidity areas. The shutters have no unsightly staples which may rust, and will not warp or crack due to water exposure.

Polyresin is a strong, durable and colorfast compound with UV stabilizers. Polyresin shutters will not warp, shrink, chip, peel or fade and never need painting.

The Polyresin material is a fire retardant and is self-extinguishing. It is safe to use in residential and commercial applications and it meets the National Fire Code Standard #701.

Polyresin shutters are designed with air pockets in the louver and frame parts. These air pockets act as insulators and acoustic dampners. These pockets act as thermal barriers and will help to reduce heating and air-conditions costs as well as reduce external noise pollution.
